First Post for New Website

I have FINALLY gotten around to getting a new website up. The old Sourland Mountain Blog was a great start and worked for what it was. But it was clear the technology I used was a cludge and would only begrudgingly display content the way it was supposed to.

I wanted a site that could display a wider array of content (mostly pictures), in an easier to access format. It was a plus that today’s technology can work well across multiple platforms. This site will allow this to an extent that far outstrips my capabilities. So we’re off to a good start.

When I talked to people about my woodworking, some discussions would evolve to a point where they were interested in potentially buying a piece, but there was no good way of doing this short of having them over to the house. That’s fine, but it certainly has a lot of limits and gets sort of awkward. The site now has a store. More about that in a bit.

While I was excited to get this going, especially about a week ago, getting a site up for a person of my abilities is really arduous. So honestly, right now I’m mostly just exhausted and my head is bursting. It’s been like drinking from a firehouse. Naively, I had no idea how complex it would be to get a store up that meant anything. Displaying items is one thing, but there is so much more! Sheesh, I really have a much better appreciation for all the really great sites I’ve been to and never appreciated the technical tour-de-force behind them. But the store is here, and the next month will be filled with pressure-testing it by myself, and even better, by friends who are as yet unsuspecting!

Oh, the picture. Well that is Gus, and my first blog post was of Gus right after he came into the family. The post with his picture got more hits than just about everything else that was ever posted. Good for my humility, and also a nod to the popularity of French Bulldog puppies. Gus is here for good luck.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
